Balance of priorities
It’s difficult to do a work-life balance between work and personal life
Yes, it’s very true. As a housewife and a coder, it’s difficult for me to balance things. Sometimes I do a good job at work but at the same time, I forgot to do things at home. Why does it happen?
I always get mad about this thing that as a woman I expect myself to be perfect in all things. My mom also used to say this to me you should be perfect in everything or at least have balance in everything. I always correct her that it's not possible. But still, in my heart, I believe that I should know everything and complete all the tasks.
I think in my journey till now, I understand 5 things -
Accept that there is no perfect life balance.
“Either you run the day, or the day runs you.”
Take a break. Do some traveling. It will change your perspective.
“Adventures are the best way to learn.”
Take Help/ Guidance if you need it.
“A mentor is someone who sees more talent and ability within you, than you see in yourself, and helps bring it out of you.”
Maintain a Journal and note down all the tasks
“Keeping a journal of what’s going on in your life is a good way to help you distill what’s important and what’s not.”
Conclusion
Perfectionism can be harmful as it often leads to self-criticism, procrastination, and stress. Having high standards is fine, but expecting perfection in everything can be unrealistic and can prevent one from enjoying the process and making progress.
It is important to recognize and embrace your limitations and delegate tasks to others when necessary. This allows you to focus on what you do best and reduces stress. It also helps you develop trust and cooperation with others, which is beneficial for both personal and professional growth.
In short, instead of striving for perfection, aim for excellence and balance, and don’t hesitate to ask for help when needed. Taking breaks and engaging in self-care activities can also help you refresh and recharge, leading to better productivity and overall well-being.
